Bond set for driver in DUI crash that killed pastor – WIS News 10 – Columbia, South Carolina |.

So you are 20 years old, just finished your Spring Exams and living life to the fullest.  Remember those days?  Carefree?  No worries?  No REAL bills yet, living life to the fullest, partying, the only worries were how many people were coming to the party next weekend to kick off Summer and were we going to make it til the end of the month with the rest of the detergent in the laundry room?

WRONG….time to WAKE UP.  IF YOU ARE OLD ENOUGH TO DRIVE (ie: have a permit or license) YOU NEED TO REALIZE THIS CAN HAPPEN TO YOU BECAUSE IT JUST DID TO THIS GIRL AND A PASTOR OF A LEXINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA CHURCH.

First and foremost, to the family and friends of Pastor Randall:

I’m so awfully sorry for your loss!  I know he is with God now and looking upon us.  I truly hope you find comfort and peace during this truly difficult and emotional time.  I couldn’t imagine how you feel and I am happy you have already found it in your hearts to forgive Mary M. Reames for this decision.   I do not believe everyone has totally forgiven her, because I think forgiveness is a process you must go through with grief, but they say they have forgiven her at the bond hearing through a family spokesperson.   I don’t know how you do it, and I have to say, you are so very much better people than I could ever be because I could never be that forgiving, but I am truly amazed.  My heart and prayers go out to you in the coming days, nights, hours, minutes, months, years as the grieving process goes on for you.

To Mary Reames Family:  I cannot say anything, but this is a complete and utter tragic loss on both sides no matter how you look at it.  No one will ever win with this.  Keep a vigiliant watch over your daughter.  She is going to be highly upset.  I’m not going to tell you anything that you have already heard a million times or already told yourselves a million and one times already.  She may do things that are completely uncharacteristic for her because she is acting out.  Please get her treatment.  I know it seems like life is over and you live vicariously through your daughter, but remember, this is happening to her, not you.

To Mary Reames:  You made a very, very poor choice and you know that.  You have thrown away your future, your career, basically any chance you have at stable employment, any chance in the legal field (if you wanted to be a lawyer or paralegal), medical field (you are very smart – 3.6 GPA is really good, you could have gotten into med school), government job, pretty much any job that requires a background check; you may have thrown away scholarships, I don’t know; I’m sure you lost your job at a the lawyer’s office; your friends; everything.

You need to stop drinking.  Find out why you drink.  Its not for fun.  I really hope you get the help you need and deserve.  I hope you look at this as your BOTTOM.  People find their bottom either in prison, never, or die because of it.  You have a choice now.  Alcoholism is a disease.  You can take charge of this and turn it around.  Mental illness is a disease, just like cancer or diabetes.  Depression is a very serious illness.  I want you to know that because you are at a higher risk for substance abuse if you are depressed or vice versa.  I hope you get the counseling, help and support you need.

TO EVERYONE:  THIS IS A TRAGEDY FOR EVERYONE.  NO ONE WINS IN A FELONY DUI CASE.  NO ONE WINS IN A DUI CASE.  WHEN WILL IT STOP?  IF YOU ARE GOING TO DRINK AND DRIVE, PLEASE CALL SOMEONE OR HAVE SOMEONE DRIVE YOU WHERE YOU NEED TO GO, EVEN IF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE ONLY A DROP!!!!

I truly hope and pray that everyone in this case receives and seeks counseling because this is truly a very difficult time and they will all need every resource they can get their hands on.  Please everyone stay safe, be careful and don’t drink and drive or use drugs and drive.  Next time you see a paramedic or firefighter, thank them for all they do because it’s not easy to do their jobs and God Bless!
